About Us

Surgigas is designed to make the process of linking a surgeon, an anaesthetist, an assistant and a theatre together as easy as possible. Eliminate multiple phonecalls and subsequent wait for confirmation by using this website to allow you to call the available anaesthetist directly.

The website has been designed to allow interaction between providers in the surgical arena. The intent is that reasonable behaviour should be expected by all users. Please remember that it does not bypass the direct contact between surgeon and anaesthetist to actually finalize the booking. The Terms and Conditions of use are available to read on the site. Please note that it is important to delete your availability after booking so as to allow the site to reflect the current situation rather than outdated information.

For surgeons looking to book a list the aim of Surgigas is to allow the surgeon or their secretary the chance to browse for available anaesthetists on the date and session required. If there are no immediately available options evident then the cases may be posted to the bulletin board to await an anaesthetist. As anaesthetists browse the site they can then ring the surgeon’s rooms direct to fill the need.

For anaesthetists and assistants the ability to make their available sessions known has the advantage of allowing work when surgeons are away or increased workload is desired. The choices of session and day are obvious but the additional choices of geographic location and surgical specialty allow greater focus upon receiving calls about the work you actually want.

The hospitals are able to list their available theatres, those coming free due to surgical vacation or cancellation. This allows other surgeons the opportunity to plan adhoc additional lists by using Surgigas to find the anaesthetist and assistants as required to match the vacant session.

The availability of other information on the site provides a “one-stop-shop” to find oncall anaesthetic cover at many of the hospitals in Perth. This can be used by surgeons to book a case but equally by anaesthetists to fill a gap in the roster at their convenience. The increased flexibility of knowing about gaps in the rosters and also being able to swap cover opens up greater lifestyle choices.

While the information on the site is protected by individual passwords and reasonable web-site security it must be treated as a public domain. Our Privacy Policy is available for viewing on the website.

The intention is to make this service available to subscribers for a nominal fee which covers the cost of running the service but does not impose upon the users in a significant way. Fees are explained in the FAQs section of News.
